Apple has quietly clarified the future of Pixelmator's decade-old iPad app, confirming that while it still works, its days of active development are over.

Pixelmator, it seems, will no longer be receiving updates. Per Apple’s site: Pixelmator Classic for iOS, released in 2014 as a companion app to the now-discontinued Pixelmator Classic for Mac, provides basic image editing features such as cropping, color adjustments, and effects. It remains a functional app but is no longer being updated.
Pixelmator Pro is being enhanced with an iPad version, Apple has confirmed, with a tablet version of the app coming as part of the Apple Creator Studio.
As Pixelmator Pro arrives on iPad via the Apple Creator Studio bundle, the original Pixelmator app enters legacy status. Here is what it means for iPhone and iPad users.
